Malala Day

This is an annual observation celebrated on Malala Yousafzai’s birthday to bring attention to the fact that lots of children, especially girls, aren’t able to go to school. After demonstrating fierce bravery by advocating for access to education for young girls which had been banned by the Taliban in her town, Malala was shot in the head by the Taliban on Oct 9th, 2012. Fortunately and after multiple surgeries overseas, Malala survived and continues her fight for young girls globally.
